Bio - Return from Broken – Hybrid Alternative Electro-Rock -- Cathartic Recovery Music

Matt Soren is the brainchild of Return from Broken; writing, composing, and performing a hybrid electronic rock with more organic flare. Blending the flavor of bands such as Muse and Radiohead with a concept similar to Pink Floyd's “The Wall,” his first album Return from Broken delivers a cathartic message about recovery from addiction and escape to freedom.

Soren began performing for local rehabs and treatment centers as a way to give back and benefit those striving to conquer similar demons. These efforts gained exceptional response on a local level and even garnered national recognition.

Later that same year, his wife discovered a large lump and was subsequently diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. This immediately changed his focus to fighting her battle with cancer. With 5 kids and their youngest just 6 months old, life became all the more eventful between cancer treatments, surgeries and subsequent financial challenges. Through it all, Soren holds his faith in God, testimony of Christ and living the principles of his religion (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or Mormons) to be what has not only sustained him, but continually helps him reach new plateaus of satisfaction and gratitude than he ever imagined.

Their difficulties took most of his attention, but also bred songs of new depth and meaning which definitely apply to a larger scope of the term ‘recovery’. As the dust settles, he is recording many of these new songs now and developing an elevated live show to match it.

A portion of all net proceeds from CD, ticket and merchandise sales go directly to support various organizations who assist those in ‘recovery’, in all their forms.

Cooler Bio - Return from Broken – Hybrid Alternative Electro-Rock -- Cathartic Recovery Music

Matt is a kind of nuts cause he does everything in Return from Broken instead of delegating it to others like intelligent people do. His first album Return from Broken is basically his personal adventures of overcoming 20+ years of addiction. Ouch. It isn’t all warm and fuzzy (as you know if you’ve heard some of the songs) but hey, at least he doesn't sugar coat it.

Matt has 5 kids (I said he was nuts) and a hot wife that he gives most his time to (you would too if you knew his wife), so he did shows for rehabs and treatment centers on the side to give back and have some fun. It was cool and people loved it (definite bonus). He even got some national press (hey, even cooler).

Then doo-doo hit the fan, his wife got cancer and the whole money bit got ugly real fast. Matt chose to step up and be her knight in shining armor (more like a skinny man in shining armor) well actually there was no armor, but the point is he wanted to take care of his hottie wife. It was chaos on so many levels but one of the best times of their lives. He says it’s all because of Gods grace, but we know he’s just one of them crazy Mormons who’s always happy all the time. He says life just keeps getting better…and get this, he claims to be sober!

Even though Matt said he put music on the side, he couldn’t help writing songs about all the poo they got to play in that year. Now he’s recording all these wonderful songs about it… (Uh…the experiences actually, not the poo). Nice.

Matt doesn’t need any money since he is independently wealthy from buying stock in Microsoft before Al Gore invented the internet, so he’s giving money he gets from his music to other people who need it more than he does (don’t let his wife read this). Matt’s already proven he’s not the most intelligent individual as he is naively too altruistic. Hey, might as well milk him while you can ;)
