Life is crazy, but good

With everything that’s going on my blog posts seem to get lower priority. Ive got a bazillion song ideas and never enough time. Family comes first for me but that works especially since I pretty much do this for fun and to give back.

I’ve got a new song I’m working on which I’m pretty stoked about. It will probably be called “Happy to feel it”. Talking about the trash we get slammed with in life but the good that comes from it.

I’ve been stretched to my capacity in a lot of ways in the last year but I’ve gotten so used to it I’m starting to just enjoy and appreciate the experiences. I guess I am still masochistic in a healthy twisted kind of way now .

I’ll probably put an acoustic version of it in the Insiders Area for you once its done. So many ideas, so little time!

Return from Broken – Finally Available!

Therapy

I had a real frustrating day a couple days ago. I needed a serious outlet to vent and as always, music did the trick. Went crazy that night, throwing stuff and having all sorts of fun. By the end of the set I was happy and ready for pleasant nights rest.

Gotta love it. Music is the coolest
(Much cheaper than a shrink and a lot more fun)

New Year

Making Tracks Available for Fans – Before the New Year

1 week till Christmas? Geeze, How’d that happen? Getting CD’s is taking almost 3 weeks longer then expected so I’m working out a way to make the album available for download (to fans) then ship CD’s out when I get them. (I want to make tracks available for you guys before 2010 Release). Just trying to get it all set up for next week. I’ll let you know when I get it worked out!

Post Thanksgiving Recovery

As usual I over-ate at thanksgiving and then paid for it later that night as my body tried digesting half a turkey and 2 pumpkin pies (I won’t even mention all the other stuff). Needless to say my body was not happy with me.

Good times…Good times.

Anyway, I’m waiting to get the finished CD’s back from press which will probably be a about 2-3 weeks but I’ll keep you posted when I’ve got them in hand. As I mentioned I’ll make preview copies available to those on my Insiders list before release in January. Thanks for waiting patiently and I’ll keep you posted-

The Final Step – Duplication

I should have the album master in hand in the next week, which means I will be getting the actual album officially off to duplication in the next week or two. This process will take about a month then final details so official Release Date TBA (Early 2010).

However, for fans on my Insiders list I will make preview copy’s available, I’m hoping, in December (Since it’s my project I can do what I want). Just got to work out the logistics, but I’d really like to do this for those of you who have been waiting patiently . Thanks, I’ll keep you posted..

Raw Mixes?

So I posted up the songs here before mastering and I sent my material to be mastered by Steve Thomas in Nashville. He really liked the project and wanted to further mix it to bring it to the next level. He remixed one song and it brought the song up 2-3 notches in my opinion. As such, I have decided to have him proceed with further mixing the whole album. I had originally wanted to do something like this but was unable to find the right engineer that could take on the task at the time.

As you may know, I mixed this whole thing at my house (which is something I didn’t want to do – though it saved some $) as I wanted a pair of professional ears working on this. (I may be a “composer” but I’m no mixing pro), so I’m really glad this worked out. That means what I have up now are actually “raw” mixes! -Matt

- New Songs Up

If you’ve noticed in the music player, I’ve just uploaded the new songs from the album for preview. Though these are unmastered tracks I wanted to make them available to you in the meantime while the project is being mastered (quality optimized to commercial standards). I’ve also posted the songs in the player in sequence as they will appear on the album (as it is a story of the cathartic process of recovery). There will also be some more nuances and tracks on the actual CD. I’ve also posted some new free downloads in the insiders area of the site too. A bit more to do in releasing the album than I anticipated but I want it to be top notch, so I will make sure it is worth the wait! -Matt

Finishing vocals

Ok, got 4 songs left to record vocals on, now just mixing to wrap this up (14 Total). My goal is to have this done and ready in the next few weeks, depending on mastering. This was a bigger animal than I anticipated but I promise it will be worth the wait. -Matt
